I once wrote a screenplay about a con artist/diet doctor who puts a Texas town — “the fattest town in America” — on a diet. OK, I wouldn’t call it art but it was kinda cute.

Now the mayor of Oklahoma City has announced his town is going on a diet, to lose a collective one million pounds.

Isn’t it Hollywood, not Oklahoma, that’s supposed to make real life look ridiculous and over the top?
